SEWING MACHINE BASICS: STARTING OUT
Just got your first sewing machine and have no idea where to start? Or maybe it’s a while since you’ve taken off the cover of a trusty sewing machine and you just need a refresher.
Join Isabella to learn the basics of how to use your sewing machine confidently.
- You’ll find out how the sewing machine works and what you can do with it.
- You’ll learn to wind a bobbin, thread your machine successfully and how to start (and stop!) sewing a straight seam.
- You’ll practise sewing curves and corners and try some of the basic stitches. We’ll also discuss what to do when things go wrong and some basic maintenance tips.
- To finish, we will make a small project to decorate your sewing corner, and to practice your new skills.
All materials will be provided. You can use one of our beginner friendly sewing machines. You can also bring your own machine in to use, but it must be in good working condition. It would also be helpful to let Isabella know what machine you’ll bringing.
Refreshments are included, for when you need a little break. The workshop will be delivered following any current COVID guidelines. Spaces are limited so early booking is advised. Suitable for adults. All abilities are welcome.
