HOME DESIGN – FURNITURE UPCYCLING PROJECT
A CREATIVE REUSE WORKSHOP
In this full-day furniture upcycling workshop, MADE’s Fiona Lambert will guide you on how to revamp and refurbish your piece of furniture. She will give you the tools, tips and advice to start restyling your own interiors.
Upcycling furniture using chalk paint (supplied) can breathe new life into something faded but treasured and useful. Fiona will guide you through preparation, painting and finishing techniques to transform your chosen project. She can also show how to make simple repairs and refurbishments, such as basic upholstery techniques.
All materials are provided but participants should bring along a piece of furniture to work on. This should be easy to carry and no larger than a bedside table or wooden chair. Also, please bring any fabrics you might want to use on your project.
Refreshments are included, for when you need a little break. Spaces are limited so early booking is advised. Suitable for adults. All abilities are welcome. It can get messy so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. Pinnies are provided.
The MADE Arts Hub was founded in 2016 by four creative women, including myself. We initially came together to share workspace and ideas. Creativity lies at the heart of my personal journey to MADE. I graduated in interior design, then worked for design studios in Glasgow and London before moving back to Edinburgh to set up my own design business. I combined this with teaching in further education. I also founded a collective of independent designers, taking part in several group exhibitions. Inspired by the local social enterprise network, I was awarded a place on the Social Innovation Programme run by The Melting Pot in Edinburgh. This gave me the skills to set up REdesign the following year. My natural instinct to collaborate with other creative people led to the formation of MADE in East Lothian.
