HOME DESIGN DAY – UPCYCLING FURNITURE
A Creative Reuse Workshop
Join us for a full-day furniture upcycling workshop with MADE’s Fiona Lambert. In this hands-on session, Fiona will guide you through the process of revamping and restoring a piece of furniture. You will learn practical skills and gain the confidence to refresh your own furniture at home.
Using chalk paint (provided) is a simple way to breathe new life into tired or faded furniture. Fiona will demonstrate how to prepare surfaces, apply paint, and use finishing techniques to achieve a professional result.
During the workshop, you will also learn how to carry out simple repairs and refurbishments, including basic upholstery techniques.
What to Bring
All materials are provided. However, participants should bring one small piece of furniture to work on.
Please make sure your item:
- Is easy to carry
- Is no larger than a bedside table or wooden chair
If you would like to include fabric in your project, please bring any fabrics you may wish to use.
What’s Included
Refreshments will be provided during the day, so you can relax and recharge during the workshop.
Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
This workshop is suitable for adults of all abilities, from beginners to those with some experience.
Please note that the workshop can be messy. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.
Tutor: Fiona Lambert
The MADE Arts Hub was founded in 2016 by four creative women, including Fiona Lambert. The founders came together to share workspace, ideas and creative opportunities.
Creativity has always been central to Fiona’s work. She trained in interior design and worked for design studios in Glasgow and London before returning to Edinburgh to start her own design business.
Alongside this, Fiona taught in further education and founded a collective of independent designers who exhibited together in a range of group shows.
Inspired by the local social enterprise network, Fiona later joined the Social Innovation Programme at The Melting Pot in Edinburgh. This experience helped her develop the skills to launch REdesign, a creative reuse initiative.
Her passion for collaboration eventually led to the creation of MADE in East Lothian, a space that supports creativity, learning and community.
