UNDERSTANDING CHALK PAINT
Preparation is key! No, we don’t mean hours of sanding – this is chalk paint, after all! – but getting rid of the grime and removing handles etc. So many brushes. And how to best apply the paint. Then waxing … all will be made clear in this workshop.
Chalk paint is a brilliant product which offers infinite opportunities for you to transform what’s brown and bland into unique and special. The techniques you’ll learn can be applied to any piece of furniture and when you’re mixing your own chalk paint and colours, the possibilities are endless.
All materials are provided but participants should bring along a small piece of furniture to work on. This should be easy to carry and no larger than a sidetable or wooden chair. If you don’t have anything to bring along, you can practice your techniques on our wide selection of wooden frames.
You don’t need to be an expert furniture painter to produce excellent results from this workshop. Beginners are welcome.
Whilst we love to teach new skills in our workshops and offer inspiration to spark your own creative endeavours, it’s so important to meet new people and make new friends. Come along for two hours of creativity and chat. Refreshments will be served.
Your tutor is Fiona Lambert, founding director at MADE in East Lothian, and qualified interior designer. She is passionate about chalk paint and has long experience in teaching upcycling to adults and children.
