Setting up a CREATIVE SMALL BUSINESS

This two-hour workshop aims to inspire, assist and reassure artists and makers currently setting up a creative business, perhaps for the first time.

The workshop content is flexible depending on the participants’ requirements. For example,

  • Goals and expectations
  • Product and pricing
  • The market
  • Branding and selling
  • Simple accounting
  • Funding

Find out how running a business can fit in with your creative practice.

By attending this workshop, you’ll also join MADE in East Lothian’s creative community with access to affordable ongoing mentoring, as well as invaluable selling opportunities (just 25% commission), events and free inclusion in our own marketing activity.

With four participants maximum, we’ll have lots of time to discuss your new business and your key issues.

This workshop is hosted by Nicky Orr, MADE’s ecommerce coordinator. Nicky has been working in the cultural industries for over 30 years. She began in theatre and was press officer with Edinburgh Book Festival. She’s run her own creative reuse business – Frugal Cool – since 2008, and has a vintage Etsy shop. She taught marketing and PR at Queen Margaret University and worked in commercial retail and digital communications.
