COASTAL MOSAIC – SEAGLASS AND CROCKS

A CREATIVE REUSE WORKSHOP

Living so close to the glorious East Lothian coastline, we can’t help but be inspired by treasures washed up on our local beaches. Fragments of antique sea pottery and glass have been transformed by the North Sea. You will celebrate these little found artworks by creating your own coastal wall art under the guidance of our creative director, Fiona Lambert.

You will delve into our great collection of seaglass and crocks from the ReUse Hub, and use them to create your design. You’ll learn about safe adhesives and how to grout! By the end of the workshop, you will have an amazing mid-sized panel to take home.

A wood panel, seaglass, crocks and fixing materials are provided. If you need additional materials to experiment with mosaic at home, you can purchase this from the ReUse Hub. You can also arrange extra, untutored time using our worktables and tools at £5 per hour.

We recommend you look at Pinterest for inspiration …so many amazing ideas. We searched for Seaglass Mosaic.

Refreshments are included, for when you need a little break. Spaces are limited so early booking is advised. Suitable for adults. All abilities are welcome. It can get messy so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. Pinnies are provided.

The MADE Arts Hub was founded in 2016 by four creative women, including myself. We initially came together to share workspace and ideas. Creativity lies at the heart of my personal journey to MADE.  I graduated in interior design, then worked for design studios in Glasgow and London before moving back to Edinburgh to set up my own design business. I combined this with teaching in further education. I also founded a collective of independent designers, taking part in several group exhibitions. Inspired by the local social enterprise network, I was awarded a place on the Social Innovation Programme run by The Melting Pot in Edinburgh. This gave me the skills to set up REdesign the following year. My natural instinct to collaborate with other creative people led to the formation of MADE in East Lothian.
