SEWING MACHINE BASICS: FEET AND STITCHES
Join Isabella to learn more basics of how to use your sewing machine confidently.
When you’re confident using your sewing machine for basic stitching, it’s time to learn more about the different features and techniques you can use your machine for, allowing you to make many more things!
You might have asked yourself what are all these feet attachments that came with my machine? And how do I use all the different stitches? In this workshop we will,
- identify and discuss the feet that came with your machine,
- discuss the stitch options on your machine and their uses,
- practise setting up and using the most commonly used feet,
- practise setting up your machine and making several samples on appropriate fabrics using a range of stitches. This will include using stretch stitches. You will also have the chance to try using a twin needle on one of our machines.
Please note that, in this workshop, we will NOT be covering using the zip and buttonhole feet/stitching. These are covered in a separate workshop.
All materials will be provided.
You can use one of our beginner friendly sewing machines. You can also bring your own machine in to use, but it must be in good working condition. It would also be helpful to let Isabella know what machine you’ll bringing so she can familiarise herself with the options in your machine before the workshop. Remember to bring the foot control and pedal for your machine, all the feet and accessories that came with it and a couple of spare bobbins that fit your machine. If you don’t have many different feet, Isabella will have a selection to borrow during class.
Refreshments are included, for when you need a little break. The workshop will be delivered following any current COVID guidelines. Spaces are limited so early booking is advised. Suitable for adults. All abilities are welcome.
